The latest Beautiful Places show is out! It’s of a hike in Paradise, Mount Rainier. Paradise is appropriately named as it is covered in wildflowers after the snow melts and the views of Mount Rainier are spectacular. This hike takes off on the Alta Vista Trail, goes up the Skyline Trail, and up to Panorama Point where the mountain and all of Paradise is on display in front of you. Truly one of the most beautiful places I have been to.
This hike started in the fog and drizzle. Terrible conditions to shoot an episode. But I went out anyway. I was settled on doing a show of the mists of Rainier with the wildflowers and hills all covered with mist. Half way up, it started raining hard and I had to put my rain gear on and stop filming. I found some trees off trail and took cover under them and filmed my hiking tip about what to wear on a day like this. It worked all right. Everything was wet and things were cramped under the tree.
I sat there about an hour and the rain stopped. As I came out of the trees, the sky was opening up and the sun was peeking through. The mountain slowly became more and more visible and I was all by myself on the trail for a good 30 minutes! I love the times when I have a place all to myself because I was the crazy one to go out while others stay dry. The same thing happened for my North Dome episode: rain and lightning kept all the smart people off the hike and I had North Dome all to myself when it cleared up.
The people showed up quickly on the Paradise hike though, and I actually like shooting the people hiking for the hiking show because the hike is what it’s all about! There are some great shots with people on the trails and the mountain in the background.
I hope you enjoy the show. If so, please share it with your friends and leave a comment.
