Big Agnes sleeping bags make getting down to sleep while camping a pleasure rather than a chore. Just think of looking forward to a night in your bag instead of hoping you get some sleep and don’t wake up 5 times off your pad.
Big Agnes bags have a full length pocket where your sleeping pad slips into. You may not think that this is important, but that’s only because you never experienced a night sleeping over your pad and knowing that you can move around, roll, whatever you want and it will still be there. You know it’s going to be a good night’s sleep the first time you slip in.
Also, Big Agnes bags are some of the lightest and smallest packing bags out there. That’s because they don’t put any insulation in the whole bottom side of the pack! They know you will have an insulated pad there and that it is an integrated part of the bag when you are sleeping, so why add the weight and size? Brilliant when you think of it and I am amazed other companies don’t do the same.
So if you want an enjoyable night’s sleep under the stars, get a Big Agnes sleeping bag. I have two, one for warm weather and another for colder times. You will not regret it and you just might have a good night’s sleep!

Is having just the pad (no insulation in the bottom) warm enough? I just went to Ventana Wilderness and my wife used two pads in addition to her sleeping bag and a down jacket to stay warm at night.
I have always found the insulation of the pad to be enough. Like I said though, I have a bag rated at zero degrees when I know it’s gonna be cold and it does just fine using just the pad under me. I would always look at what the pack is rated at and go by that. When it’s cold, and you have a pack rated at 30 degrees, you’re gonna be cold no matter what. And you gotta know what is comfortable for you. If you get cold, you had better get a warmer bag.
My big thing is that when you roll off your pad, or skootch off of it (that always happens!), it’s not working well as a pad or an insulator. When it is tight and integrated under you, it’s working optimally for the weight you carry. And on top of that, is the comfort. Try it and you will love your night’s sleeping and your wife may enjoy her nights out camping a little better.
